Member Review & Commitment

Each DSA Canada member company must meet specific membership criteria, ensuring their ability to live up to the high standards established by the Association. Only outstanding direct selling companies, which meet our high standards, are welcomed into DSA Canada as members.

Our current group of members each place a priority on ethics and exceptional business practices. While we work hard on behalf of the entire channel, over DSA Canada’s history we have upheld standards in part by denying companies membership, requesting that they take corrective action before joining, or even revoking membership due to them not living up to organizational expectations. Membership comes with responsibilities and is not a right.

For this reason, when transacting with a DSA Canada member you can be sure that you will be treated professionally and ethically. Always look for the DSA Canada logo as an assurance of a businesses of high ethical standards in the Canadian market.

The Member Application, Ongoing Review and Education Process

  • Prior to initial membership acceptance, the DSA Canada Membership Application Review Committee conducts an investigation of the company’s business reputation, including its marketing and distribution plan, to ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws.
  • Each member company must agree to abide by DSA Canada’s Codes of Ethics and Business Practices, designed to protect customers and prospective entrepreneurs.
  • Annually, each member company must rededicate to the Code provisions and lawful business practices.
  • Complaints against a member company are handled by an independent code administrator, who works to hear and resolve any complaint against member companies or their salespersons. The administrator has the power to decide on and enforce remedies.
  • Via various learning resources, including video, printed materials, in-person seminars and digital assets, member companies make an ongoing commitment to educate their independent sales consultants on their rights and responsibilities relating to the Code.
  • Every year, those member companies who show exceptional commitment to their membership and compliance requirements are eligible to receive a Code Promotion Certification from Association management.
