2024 was an impactful year for DSA Canada and our reputation. Maybe not as impactful as Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour, which recently finished in Vancouver, but we still have lots to be proud of. 

We didn’t play to as many people as Taylor, but many important people did take notice of what we had to say. Let’s celebrate all the good times, and twists and turns of 2024, and look forward to an amazing 2025. 

DSA Canada President Peter Maddox represented the interests of Canada’s direct selling industry during a hearing before the Canadian Standing Committee on Health (HESA). During the two-hour session, Mr. Maddox addressed Members of Parliament from across party lines, highlighting the impacts of the Natural Health Products (NHPs) regulatory framework on direct selling investment, innovation, and consumer choice.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada), a milestone that celebrates the organization's enduring commitment to supporting and uplifting the direct selling industry across the nation. 

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada) recognized the exceptional accomplishments of four standout Independent Sales Consultants (ISCs) during the annual ISC Awards ceremony and Direct Sellers Day celebration on September 18. Held at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, the event saw industry leaders, family, and friends come together to honour achievements within the Canadian direct selling community.

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada) proudly announces its annual Direct Sellers Day, slated for September 18, 2024. This year's theme, “My Independent Spirit”, highlights the resilience, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of independent sales consultants (ISCs) across Canada. The event will culminate in the prestigious ISC Awards, recognizing the exceptional contributions of ISCs in various categories.

DSA Canada is excited to welcome a new Board Chair, introduce two new Board Directors, and celebrate those Board Directors whose terms have ended.

We are thrilled to welcome Jessie Arsenault as the new Chair of the Direct Selling Education Foundation of Canada (DSEF). With her extensive experience in direct sales and her dynamic approach to leadership, Jessie is set to drive forward the educational and ethical initiatives that underpin our industry. 

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada) proudly announced today the awarding of $16,000 in scholarships to four standout Canadian university students. The annual scholarship program is designed to support the educational aspirations of students who are connected to the direct selling industry – this year’s winners are pursuing degrees across various fields including education, art therapy, engineering, and design.

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada) is excited to announce that this year's Direct Sellers Day will be held on September 18, 2024. This annual event is dedicated to raising awareness about the positive impact of direct selling and the opportunities it provides for personal and economic growth. 

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada recently hosted the DSA Canada Connect 2024 conference at the scenic Queen's Landing Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Held from June 23-26, the event drew industry leaders from Canada and the U.S., offering unique networking opportunities and an energetic forum for sharing insights.

The Direct Sellers Association of Canada (DSA Canada) has proudly launched a new brand identity, which represents the trust and authority of this progressive organization, and the modern, entrepreneurial industry that it serves. Members of DSA Canada include such leading retail brands as Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Arbonne, Cutco and USANA.

Our 2024 Scholarship Program offers four, $4,000 scholarships to eligible post-secondary students, including those entering their first year in Fall 2024

On September 20 – Direct Sellers Day – we celebrated our industry’s star performers at our second annual independent sales consultant (ISC) Awards in Toronto.

The Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF) is pleased to welcome two new directors to its Board, Kim Barraclough of Arbonne International Canada, and Donna Pinsonneault of She’s Got Leggz.

Congratulations to the four 2023 DSA Academic Scholarship recipients!

We recognize that a fair and well managed natural health product (NHP) regulatory framework is vital for consumers who purchase and utilize these products, and for companies who market them, including our members. For this reason, we have made a formal submission to Health Canada, outlining our concerns with their proposal to introduce a new fee-for-service model for companies who license and sell NHPs in Canada. Thank you to all of our members who participated in developing this submission.

Canadian industry statistics were released for 2022 at our recent conference in Montreal. While both total sales and the number of independent sales consultants (ISCs) were down against 2021, the context of the past few years means that the statistics provided some positives.

Congratulations to our 2023 Award Winners!

Last week, members of the Direct Sellers Association of Canada Board spent two days in Ottawa, the nation’s capital, meeting with Members of Parliament (MPs), senators, and other government officials to help advocate for the direct selling industry. The event began with a board meeting, followed by a well-attended government reception and on day two, DSA Canada representatives met with MPs and other important stakeholders to discuss direct selling.

In early January, DSA Canada submitted an affidavit requesting the opportunity to participate as an intervener in a legal case before Canada’s Federal Court of Appeal.
