  • 0.5 CHYS 1002H – The Significance of Play in the Lives of Children and Youth
  • 0.5 CHYS 2001H – Child and Youth Rights and Legal Issues
  • 0.5 CHYS 3001H – Case Studies of Professional Ethics and Risk Management
  • 1.0 CHYS 4882Y – Placement-Field Based Learning, or 1.0 unassigned Child and Youth Studies credit at the 4000 level
  • 0.5 INDG 1001H – The Foundation for Reconciliation
  • 0.5 WRIT 1001H – Write in Time
  • 0.5 unassigned Child and Youth Studies credit at the 2000 level
  • 0.5 unassigned Psychology credit at the 2000 level from the B2 category
  • 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 1000 level
  • 3.0 unassigned Arts credits at the 1000 level

*Additional notes:  

  • Students seeking placement opportunities at Trent may have the transfer credit for CHYS 4882Y - Placement-Field Based Learning with 1.0 unassigned Child and Youth Studies credit at the 4000 level. Students must e-mail admissions@trentu.ca to request this adjustment. 
  • Students who have completed the Indigenous Perspectives Designation (IPD) at Fleming are eligible to receive transfer credit for INDG 1002H - Foundations of Modern Life. Students must notify admissions@trentu.ca of IPD completion to have the additional transfer credit added to the student record.

Transfer credits for students who entered the Child and Youth care program prior to Fall 2016 will be awarded on a course-by-course basis.

Exigences

To qualify for this pathway, students must:

  • Successfully complete Fleming College's Child and Youth Care Advanced Diploma program;
  • Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students must complete the following 12.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Child and Youth Studies:

  • 0.5 CHYS 1000H - Introduction to Child and Youth Studies 
  • 0.5 CHYS 1001H - Child and Youth: Identity Theory and Voice
  • 0.5 CHYS 2005H - Child and Adolescent Development
  • 0.5 CHYS 2006H - Indigenous Knowledge for Children and Youth
  • 0.5 CHYS 2010H - Introduction to Research Methods
  • 0.5 SOCI 1001H - Introduction to Sociology I: Critical Foundations
  • 0.5 PSYC 1020H - Introduction to Psychology Part 1: Experimental and Biological Bases of
    Behaviour or 0.5 PSYC 1030H - Introduction to Psychology Part 2: Social and Personality Perspectives
  • 2.0 Child and Youth Studies credits at the 3000 level in addition to the above
  • 0.5 Child and Youth Studies credit at the 4000 level
  • 6.0 additional credits, including:
    • No more than 0.5 credit at the 1000 level;
    • At least 3.0 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
